Tie one on

If you are in the market for a tie, either for yourself or a loved one, here are some pretty sweet options. They are made by Cyberoptix TieLab. Here's what the tie lab is about in their own words:

"We make ties for people who love and hate them. Be prepared for big dates, court dates and dates with destiny."

I'm a Slacker

While I intended for this to primarily be a craft blog.... it might not seem that way yet. I'm going to try and correct that while leaving room for other things too. On that note here is one of my favorite crafts I've ever crafted.

It's a dirty little pillow I made for my friend Holly last Christmas. If anyone was to appreciate it I figured it'd be her since she's a little crafty and a little dirty.

Here are some close ups:

Life after Sex and the City

If you've been missing something since Carrie Bradshaw abandoned us (the chopped up syndicated version doesn't count) I found a healthy fix. Lipstick Jungle by Candice Bushnell.

Lpstck

It's focused around three high powered women living in the big city. They deal with similar issues as our old friends, but these ladies just have a lot more money. You can get the book here.

Apparently Ms. Bushnell's done it again and the characters from this book will be getting their own television show set to air this fall on NBC. I'm sure the format will be pretty similar to Sex and the City because these three women tend to meet up often for food and drinks and gossip. I'll try not to get my hopes up too much though since this is network television...and Aidan Shaw isn't part of this story :(

The New Gangs of New York

During lunch today my friend Meg, who lives in Astoria, was trying to tell us about a gang fight that happened in her neighborhood last night. When we asked "What gang?" she replied, "You know. The black and white one."

Another friend cleverly responded, "What? Mimes?" That got me thinking. First off that would be the quietest gang fight ever and who would their rivals be? There were many ideas the table threw out like clowns, zombies, vikings etc. Here's how I like to picture it....

They say you always remember your first...

First post is hard. Where to start? Well after coming to the realization that I have a serious addiction to reading blogs (especially craft blogs!) I've decided to start my own. I'm doing this in unison with starting an Etsy shop. If you don't know what Etsy is: 1- you a seriously missing out and 2- click the Etsy link to the left of my blog page to find out!

Other than announcing my new blog and shop this first post could have been about the NY Rennaissance Faire that I attended yesterday. Unfortunatley I didn't bring a camera so I can't share with you the outraggeously dressed people I encountered there. You might think that's to be expected at the Ren Faire but I did not expect to see seven middle aged men dressed like little girls a la Allison in Wonderland style, not at all Rennaissance. I also didn't expect to see (but didn't mind) the three young men dressed like they just jumped out of the movie 300. And last I didn't expect to see, but should have, the hammered old granny wearing short shorts and a bikini top. Lesson learned...carry camera at all times. Especially where freaks gather.

In stead of what I wish I were showing you, here ia a glimps of my studio. Happy Labor Day!
