Domo Arigato Print Gocco

It's my first time using the Print Gocco I got for Christmas and so far so good. Here's a sneak peak of a new item that will be popping into the shop soon!

Nerd Alert

Some productivity has been reported. More to come!

These came from some of the supplies I posted about yesterday.

This set of three bookmarks has made it's way to the shop and one lucky friend of mine (future librarian, might I add) will be receiving the one that says "stop looking at what I'm reading!" since she inspired it.
Coincidentally she also has a blog all about vegan delights that you can visit here.

I also was inspired today to whip up this tasty little treat.

I was watching everyday Italian on Food Network today and Giada rolled smoked mozzarella in filo and fried it. Then she topped it with honey, figs and black sesame seeds. Back peddle...I went to Downing Street Wine Bar in NYC this past Tuesday and I has toast with Manchego cheese and Mexican honey on it which was pretty awesome....fast forward...I had some of the ingredients that Giada used and a craving for cheese and honey that wouldn't subside.

So, I wrapped some Assiago we had laying around in filo, which I surprisingly had laying around, and fried it. I topped it with honey, raisins, a touch of spiced apple cider and black sesame seeds. The whole thing took maybe five minutes and was one of the  best dishes I've had in a while.  Now my mind is reeling with other combos I can wrap and fry up. I think next will be a Brie medley. Maybe with nuts involved. The little cheese logs fry up so fast that I think maybe a softer cheese would be better even though the Assiago  did melt slightly. If you try it let me know what combo you whipped up!

Thinking 'bout Making

Some weeks it's easier to get stuff done in the studio. Other weeks I spend more time just thinking about it. This was one of those weeks but at least I accumulated some supplies in the process. Dscn4068_2 Dscn4069
I should be ready to go now. Now I just need a pocket of time. I'm hoping to find that either tonight after I go snowboarding or tomorrow...or both. All the products on the right are from Paper Source. It was my first time ordering from them and I think it's a great site. Very reasonable and you get free shipping if you spend over $100. (Not that hard to do.)They also carry Gocco supplies.

*Notice in the photo on the left there's a tiny paw. Both kitties both are always so willing to help. Maybe a little too willing.

My Friend is in Martha Weddings!

My friend Amy and her husband Pete are featured in the latest issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. Amy and her sister own a letterpress business in the West Village and she was hoping to get a mention in the magazine. In stead she got her store, Greenwich Letterpress, mentioned as well her own wedding (which was pretty awesome).

Her custom letterpress is pretty awesome too. She did my invitations and they turned out pretty great!

Here's a sneak peak at her spread.

Drawing and Baking

Finally a new original for the shop. It's called "Winter Walk."

Pict
It's pen and ink and marker on bristol. I'm pleased with the calm nature of this picture. And although it's not snowing here it's at least this cold today!

And that's the way the biscotti crumbles. It's chocolate with almonds and dried cherries. Very tasty although it's on the dry side...even for biscotti.

I'm on Whip Up!

Apparently last week my Karma Sutra pillow I made for a friend was on Whip Up. I had posted it on my Flickr page and I think that's where they found it. The positive reaction to my slightly scandalous craft makes me happy. I'm thinking about adding a silk screened version to the shop. Too bad it won't be ready in time for Valentines Day! (Don't worry, I'm on it, though)

I know I showed this before but I figured I'd give you some close-ups this time. Also, you can't see it but, I sewed a little pocket in the back for condoms...lube...or what-have-you.

It's a Two-fer

First....long anticipated...the super sweet deer head from my friend Meg. You may remember it was a wedding gift I was eagerly waiting for and here it is installed. I love it so much! I just need to accessorize the mantel appropriately now. I'm also contemplating painting a darker color behind the deer to make it pop more but let's start with the mantel.

And secondly...(although this isn't the clearest picture) a really cute Valentine's Day garland. There is a version of this garland in the shop now. I'm especially happy about it because it gave me an excuse to buy a big circle hole punch!

Crammin' it In

This weekend was super action packed, but I feel good because I was productive too!

Fun Stuff:
-Bowling Friday night, first time in a long time (other than Wii Bowling)
-Dinner and a movie double date. We saw Juno which was very cute and entertaining. It has a fun soundtrack too. The character Juno was quirky and witty at the same time. The entire movie was slightly offbeat and both the boys and girl I was with all really liked it. Everyone else I know who has seen it really enjoyed it too so I recommend it.
-Sunday football at a friends. I don't really enjoy football but I do enjoy the social aspect of it...plus the food and booze!

Gettin' Stuff Done:
-painted the hallway and stairwell a really yummy milk chocolate color. I love the way it turned out. Next step is to touch up the trim and bead board. Then the biggest part of the project...ripping the carpet off the stairs and finishing the steps. There are also some framed picts in this hallway that I'd like to spruce up too. Maybe once this whole project is done I'll post some photos.
-Hung the deer head that was delivered this week! Love it! I'll show picts of that too soon.
-started some items for the shop. Here's a sneak preview.
