Hooray for Surprise Deliveries
I had totally forgotten that I ordered a few crafting/ decorating/ gardening books so I was confused when I found a descent sized package in my mail yesterday. Oncer I realized what it was I was as happy as if I'd received a gift (which I kind of did...from myself).
There was one standout book amongst the group. It's called "Sew Pretty Homestyle," by Tone Finnanger. It was originally published in Norway under the title "Tildas Hus," but thankfully republished in English.
A shot of the cover which gives you a good feel for what you'll find inside. Very sweet and girly, but also has a ton of instruction.
I think this cat is very sweet. There is also a dog, bear and angel version in the book. This may be my first project out of this book. I'm thinking of creating a Valentines cat whose frock would read "love," instead of "cat." Tone mentions in the book that the embroidered the word cat on the dress because she wasn't sure if it was obvious that this doll was supposed to be a cat. I'm going to say yes...it's pretty apparent.
Not the world's greatest photo but here is the page showing what Tone calls her "hobby room." It just looks so cozy and I love the geraniums in the window.
And just as soon as I get some felted wool I'll be trying out this slipper pattern. Throughout the book there are many pairs of these scattered in different rooms all beautifully embellished. There is a section on embroidery that's pretty inspiring and she's included templates for all her flowers and whimsically written words.
When i was looking for the Amazon link to include at the top of the post I discovered Tone also has books on Springtime crafting and Christmas crafting. I'm thinking I'm probably going to have to look into those as well.
