Sex and the Suburbs

Sex_movie
Well, like many other eager women across America I saw Sex and the City this weekend. For the most part it really did fill a five year old void, if even for only two and a half hours. I know it's getting mixed reviews but I enjoyed it very much.

One of my friends that I saw it with summed it up well. She said, "It was like watching clips of a full season of the show." Most of the characters remained true to where we left them last, but I was a little disappointed in Samantha's lack of escapades. I won't give away any more because I don't want to ruin anything for anyone.

If you do go see it just approach it as you would the show and don't look for some epic tale. If you do that I think you'll enjoy as much as I did. And hey, even if you don't love the movie, the fashion is fun!

Thanks to my three friends from the city for coming out to the Jersey burbs to see it with me! Kind of ironic, right?

My friends stayed all weekend and lived it up suburb style! We ate most of our meals outside, shopped at some local boutiques such as TJ Max, Target and Trader Joe's and played Rock Band as well as hitting the movies. I had a great time. Crafting was scheduled but didn't really happen as the weekend flew by. Oh well, we'll have to be more diligent about that next time!

Lookin' Good Teak Wood

I had an action packed Memorial Day weekend which resulted in me getting a mother of a cold. I think my demise was when I first got a scratchy throat I continued on with my plans as though nothing was wrong. Then on Sunday I went camping and although it was quite lovely around the campfire as soon as you stepped away it was pretty darn chilly. Not good for a girl with a cold coming on. And now here we are two days later and I'm still feeling pretty crappy.

Any way here is a project Bill and I took on before the cold set in.
DSCN4740 When we got engaged his family gave us a cute Pottery Barn table and chairs for our deck. After two summers....ok...and one winter outside (ooops) here is how they looked.

Ok. This might not be the best photo to show it, but after sanding, restaining, then oiling the set looks brand new and I couldn't be happier.

So to celebrate we ate homemade cherry almond oat scones outside Sunday morning.

There's a Fungus Among Us!

Look what I just bought on Etsy from Annie Oakleaves!
Mushroom girl
Could she bee any cuter? And I think she was very reasonable priced as well. Grab one up before they are gone because My Paper Crane blogged about them too!

I didn't realize, until I purchased this little red capped lady, that I guess I'm on a mushroom kick. I got a really sweet mushroom print from The Devil's Wallpaper from my sister for my birthday. The one I have is not currently posted in the shop but check here for more mushroom loveliness.

PS- I guess it's been a while since I blogged. Typepad has a whole new set up today. Way to remind me I'm a slacker. Thanks Typepad!

Walking in a Field of Flowers

OK, that may be a bit of an exaggeration but anyway here is a glimpse...or a tease rather, from my potted garden. When it's fully planted and has had a little time to set it's roots I'll give you a full tour. But for now:

Pretty Dahlias, sigh. And almost as pretty some new Campers. I'm leaving for Vegas tomorrow and these should be stylish and comfy, just like there are known for!

I'll talk to you when I return and hopefully I'll have some nice gaudy picts to share!

Happy Mom's Day

To all the mothers out there, hope you had a good day! I am not a mother but had a very nice day starting with brunch at my Mother in laws, then a nice long bike ride, planting a veggie garden with my Mom, husband and my two nephews, then dinner at my Mom's.

This weekend flew by and I'm sure the week will also as I have to travel for work again...to Vegas so I'm not complaining. I'm just glad I got to spend a nice little chunk of time outside. I also went to a birthday party Saturday and spent Friday night with friends drinking and playing dirty Pictionary.

Maybe I had too much fun this weekend and need to refer to this robot print I made in my silk screening class to remind me what I should be doing!

This is a hint of an idea...for a dishtowel....that you'll see in my shop soon! (as soon as I take some good photos)

A Little Inspiration

My studio is slightly out of control. This is to be remedied soon though, by the purchase of a set of flat files and a good spring cleaning. Maybe it's just procrastination speaking but I don't think I should start cleaning...or crafting, till said flat files are in place. Sooooo.. here's the only part of the studio currently fit for public viewing, my inspiration boards.

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Here's another event I'm a little late in posting, but better late than never. I cut my hair and donated it to women who lost their hair due to chemo. I donated it through Pantene's Beautiful Lengths. The minimum requirement is eight inches through them, where most other groups require 10.

It feels good and I don't miss the hair AT ALL. I am struggling however, with actually having to do my hair, and everyday it looks different. Here's a before and after.

PS- note the three beautiful model horse prints in the background. They're from Raydel Shanks. She is an Etsy seller with a great eye  and really distinct style  that I'm a big fan of!

Happy Birthday to Me

This post is a little late as my B-day is April 27th but I actually just finished celebrating yesterday with my family. My Mom made me a cake (my favorite chocolate with white icing) but I brought a long the decorations that Bake and Destroy so generously sent me.

And I got this sweet lucha mask from my sister and her husband.
Dscn4720
I'll probably wear it while cleaning the house...riding my bike....drinking coffee. That kind of thing. I just need to come up with a good wrestling name to go with it! Mary and Jamie suggested --------something---- con queso. I'm open to suggestions.

All-in-all my birthday "week," as it turned out to be was pretty darn good!
